Certificate in Life Skills (Entry Levels 1-3)

ASDAN ENTRY LEVEL QUALIFICATION

ASDAN Certificate in Life Skills (Entry Levels 1, 2 and 3) is approved by QCA, DELLS and CCEA and is listed in Section 96 and 97 of the Learning and Skills Act 2000 for pre- and post-16 candidates.

The Certificate in Life Skills qualification (100/1171/7) at Levels Entry 1, 2 and 3 has had the approval period renewed and extended to August 2009 (with certification until 2011), by which time a new and improved version will be available.

What is the Certificate in Life Skills?

The qualification embraces the development of Personal, Social, Health, Moral, Citizenship and ICT skills and also encompass the development of independent skills and skills which prepare the candidate for life.

Progression is recognised throughout the three levels of the qualification, in requiring the candidate to demonstrate their ability to maintain skills learnt as well as recognising lateral and incremental achievements.

Structure of the qualification:

The qualification consists of 6 units

To gain the Life Skills Qualification, candidates need to complete 4 out of 6 units.

Progression

The Certificate in Life Skills qualification awarded at Entry 3 facilitates progression into qualifications at level 1 e.g. ASDAN's Certificate of Personal Effectiveness (CoPE) Candidates achieving the Certificate in Life Skills Entry 3 can gain 6 credits towards CoPE at level 1.

The Employability Award at Entry 3 and Level 1 may be a suitable route for canditates who are not yet ready for employment but for whom a job is a realistic aim within a reasonable timescale. Click here for further details.

Assessment

The qualification will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence. Candidates are also required to do Additional Activities/tasks (set by ASDAN) which provide confirmation that the candidate has met the unit specifications.
The portfolio and Additional Activities will be assessed internally by the centre and moderated externally by ASDAN.
